LIVE SHELLFISH TRANSPORT NOW A REALITY
The successful completion of field trials of the AQALIFE system in Europe now paves the way for the opening of completely new transportation corridors between all major production areas and urban consumption centres world-wide.
The AQALIFE system now makes it possible for aquaculture producers from across the world to gain access to global markets without either the traditional product mortality time limitations or the considerable expense of existing dry and airborne transportation systems.This supply chain solution succeeds by combining a transportation system with a storage system – which means that the same tanks and containers can be used through out the supply chain.
The availability of hour-fresh shellfish in Paris, London and Brussels - from all over the world -is a breeders dream come true but already AQALIFE containers of Mussel, Oyster and Crab are being shipped directly from their remote origins to major urban conurbations within Central Europe.
The AQALIFE system means that this once the catch is first loaded then there is no further need for any re-handling and reloading right the way through the entire supply chain - which means truly fresh product kept in their natural biological environment right up until they reach the final point of sale.
The supply chain for Mussels from Denmark to southern and central Europe:
Mussels are being harvested on the Danish Limfjord – the Mussels will be landed straight from the fishing boat into the AQALIFE collection point.

The tanks are loaded straight into the marine shipping container after filling. The container piping system connects to the docking station.
The shellfish in the marine containers are conditioned by the docking station. During this conditioning period all organic material is removed from the water and the shellfish is brought down to hibernation temperature.
After conditioning the container can be released for transportation, hereafter the tanks are powered by the containers inbuilt air compressor system. The container can now be transported for up to 30days by Container ship, train or truck.
